Joan released her own book with Todd Oldham in 2010, though it was largely photos and a short oral history of herself and her career, so there was another piece, another point of view. But the closest anyone could ever come to knowing the full story of The Runaways is in a new book from rock journalist Evelyn McDonnell,  Queens of Noise: The Real Story of The Runaways . It’s also a lot queerer than anything you’ve ever heard about the young women before.

"Some memories that I had buried started coming loose, and I realized I had been directing all my anger about it toward the people who had stood by and watched and not done anything," Fuchs said. "And they're not the people I should have been angry at. I should have been angry at Kim Fowley, the man who raped me. And I finally put my anger there, and once my anger went there, I wanted to do something about it."

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in the music-fueled coming of age story of the groundbreaking, all-girl rock band, THE RUNAWAYS. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley (Michael Shannon, Pearl Harbor), who turns the rebellious Southern California kids into a rock group with outrageous success. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself and so do its two leads: Joan is the band's pure rock n' roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.
